The outdoor seating was nice because it's on a side street. We started off with the crab appetizers and meat tacos were a great start. Felt super fresh and flavorful. For the main, the flautas were well seasoned. Service was attentive and nice.
Havent been here in a while, so happy to see that its as wonderful as it always was. Service always excellent. Place is clean and inviting. Food...perfect. Still my favorite restaurant in NY!
Stopped by for drinks on a Tuesday and we easily grabbed a table outdoors. The strawberry and pineapple frozen margaritas taste great and are relatively strong. We also got guacamole and it comes with these huge chips - both were absolutely amazing and I would come back for the guac alone. Guac was flavorful and creamy while the chips were crispy and nicely salted. Wasn't exactly cheap, but it was worth it!
This place was soooo good. We did a last minute walk in on a Friday and were able to be seated outside. I will say, it took an extremely long time to be served our drinks. Once they arrived, they were very good. I had a spicy margarita and my friend had a Aguachile Margarita. The Venice was tasty. Definitely try the crab tostada TOSTADAS DE JAIBA. I also had the carne asada tacos and was in love. Worth the wait. Inside looks nice. I would like to sit inside next
I went here for my partner's birthday and to celebrate my new job and it was SO good. The food was great, service was amazing and it felt like you were eating at a friendly place. Overall it was a wonderful experience. The fresh fruit margaritas were a must. We loved the mole and the tres leches was the best I have ever had. Will be going back!
Have been eyeing this plane for a while and came for brunch with my partner on a weekend and were able to snag a later brunch reservation. We decided to sit inside since it was quite hot out but the outdoor seating looked cute and spacious. I decided to get the huevos rancheros which were tasty! The service was great, very attentive servers and quick service. Hope to come back for dinner!
Must try!! Casa Enrique has some of the best and most authentic Mexican food NYC has to offer and I'm so glad I got a chance to go. Their cocktail menu is huge! I started off with a their special drink of the day which was a guava one and it was so delicious. For food we shared veggie enchiladas (Doña Blanca) and a chile relleno which was amazing. I typically don't opt or love chile relleno's but this was another level stuffed with halloumi cheese and smothered in a delicious sauce. I couldn't get enough. The star of the show was the tres leches dessert which was by far one of the best I've ever had. It's definitely on the sweeter side bc of the Cajeta but it works so well! Can't wait for my trip back here!
8/10 Wanted to try this place for a really long time and sad to hear they lost their Michelin star but heard they're still pumping out some great food so you know I had to stop by. First of all the little fried dough sticks with the three little hot sauces that they give you complementary are so addictive and were a great little crunch to start off with, not too filling. Margaritas were actually delicious and are a cannot miss item, with the perfect balance of sweetness, saltiness, and sourness. The enchiladas with salsa verde have a great texture with a punchy fragrant sauce, soft corn tortilla, and quality cotija cheese. However, the chicken inside was a bit dry. I would say that my meal here was good bordering on great and is worth trying but I can see why and where their quality may have shifted over the years. Also, the tres leches is solid, no complaints, but definitely not a need to have item.
I've heard mixed things before visiting Casa Enrique, so I knew I had to just try it for myself. I watched a video on how they make their mole sauce, and I thought it was super cool to know the intricate details and decisions chefs make in the kitchen to create their end product. Michelin star aside, it is for sure still worth the visit. The dishes are fantastic and the staff is so friendly and wonderful. Who really knows what Michelin reviewers base their decisions on. I would say despite Casa Enrique's high status, the tables and chairs (which feel plastic-y) and low ceilings make the space and experience more casual than other high-end restaurants. I will note that the material of the tables do make it easy for the staff to clean up what-can-become messy splatters, so I don't blame them for using those. TL;DR: try the mole!!! Wow the mole is so good. Such a complex mix of flavors! The tacos are hefty prices but my boyfriend's mom thoroughly enjoyed them and it's a good choice if you want to eat an individual portion. The rest of us shared: GUACAMOLE - 5/5 can't go wrong with the guac. It's delicious. TOSTADAS DE JAIBA - 3/5 it was good but difficult to share for a party less than 3, as it's 3 small bites of crab on tortilla DE POLLO CON MOLE DE PIAXTLA - 5/5 SO good. This was a great dish to be able to try the mole in all its glory. POZOLE DE MI TIA - 4/5 the service provided us smaller bowls and extra spoons so we could share this between all 4 of us. This was really delicious as well provided a good mix of types of dishes and textures. I give it a 4/5 because it's not mind-blowing but it's definitely delicious and I would recommend. The staff was really nice and accommodating. They were helpful when deciding what to eat (as we had some back and forths when ordering lol), and overall made the experience more pleasant. I enjoyed brunch at Casa Enrique, time to go back for dinner!!
